A fool rejects his father’s discipline, but he who regards reproof is sensible. – Proverbs 15:5
When we are disciplined, or even critiqued, we often don’t want to listen. Our pride says that we are right or we know the best way to do something, but we have parents and other people in our lives who are older and wiser than we are so we can learn and grow. It’s hard to accept discipline and criticism, but the Bible says the man who does not is a fool.

By faith, Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going. – Hebrews 11:8 Hebrews 11 recounts many men and women of faith, and Abraham is one of them. Abraham didn’t really know why […]
“Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against the house and could not shake it, […]

Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another. – Napoleon Hill That is a powerful thought. I have never heard it said that way before. People say words can build up or tear down, but I’ve never heard our […]
In his book Boy Meets Girl: Say Hello to Courtship, Joshua Harris is talking about following Christ by faith, even when He doesn’t make it clear who we will marry and when. This can also be applied to other areas of our life as well. That quote from the book really stuck out to me, because […]
(This is a post I wrote back in 2012) Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a […]
Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. — James 1:2-4 James tells us to consider all joy when we encounter trials. Be joyful in […]
