3 Steps to Help You Find Your Talent

3 Steps to Help You Find Your Talent - A Rising Generation

This is a guest post by my amazingly talented sister, Shipwreck Samantha. I hope you enjoy her post and are able to learn something from her. – Meagan Nicole

When I was offered to guest post on this blog, something came to my mind. I remember around two years ago when I was in youth group, our pastor was talking about using our talents for God’s glory. When we got into small groups, I was one of the only girls who actually knew what my talent was, though I still didn’t know what to use my artistic abilities for. This is something that has stuck with me. It amazed me and made me a little sad to see so many teenagers my age that didn’t think they had any special abilities. Most of them admitted to doing mindless things in their spare time because they didn’t have a passion to practice and use.

I used to be in the same situation. Up until a year ago, even though I knew I had some artistic abilities, I didn’t actually find out what it really meant to have a passion. I spent a lot of my time getting frustrated with my doodles, and most days I felt like I would never be a good artist. It wasn’t until a year ago that I discovered sculpting. That was when my talent truly shined, because since then I take joy from my work, instead of tears.

If you don’t know what your talent is, I’ve been in your shoes. It’s frustrating at times. You might even question if there is even something special or important about you. But if you remember anything from this post, let it be this: You are unique and important in God’s plan.
