Enter by the Narrow Gate

Enter by the Narrow Gate - Matthew 7:13-14 - A Rising Generation

This is a guest post by my friend Sarah who shares my love for God and writing. I hope you enjoying reading what she has to say and that God uses her post to teach you something new about Him. – Meagan Nicole

Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life and there are few who find it.” – Matthew 7:13-14

One may ask, “What kind of persuasion to Christ is that?” or “Why would I choose to live for God if He tells us that it will be difficult?” And for those people I have one answer: an eternity with Jesus.

Whether an individual is saved or walking a path of unrighteousness, there are two things that are very clear about this world we live in: we will suffer, and we will die. There is no way to avoid those facts.

But God offers something greater to be learned of these lines, given by Matthew, and that is the merciful gift of life.

He, who saves, offers us His triumphant grace, unyielding, despite our wickedness and contempt.

He, who redeems, offers us His breath and warmth in times of heartache, despite our refusal to acknowledge it.

He, who rose, offers us His life in exchange for our sin, which consumes us more often than not.

The beautiful thing about the Christ Jesus who reigns is the unbelievably rich (yet free), sacrificial (yet powerful), and blessed (yet unending) love He offers at every turn.

Despite the promise of a “difficult way” or “narrow gate” in this temporary life, home, and pursuit, our God is faithful and offers nothing more or less than His all-consuming love for us.

I will choose to believe that the promise of love and redemption and time and perfection is so much greater and worthy of focus than that of an already-assumed difficult life and eventual death.

Many prayers and blessings,

– Sarah
